At SAMA, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive community for Australian and Malaysian students. By offering opportunities for personal growth, networking, and cultural exchange, we strive to bridge the gap between these two nations. Our mission is to create a platform where students can collaborate, share experiences, and build lasting relationships that enhance their academic and professional journeys.
Our History
The Student Association of Malaysia and Australia or SAMA, was conceptualised in November 2022 in Canberra after a Pre-Departure training for scholars of Australia’s New Colombo Plan in our host country Malaysia.
Excited and humbled by the experience and preparing for our own programs and departures for studies and internships in Malaysia, this organisation blossomed to provide resources and kinship to help future students have the best experience on their international study journeys.
Most importantly, SAMA was created out of the desire to give back; giving back to Malaysia for hosting Australian students and giving back to Australia for student opportunities to gain knowledge and immerse us in a diverse environment.
